Devotional – Irish Eyes

Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless you and keep you: The Lord make His face shine upon you. And be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.

A lovely blessing for this, the end of another work week. Like so many passages I’ve read in the last month, I’ve heard these verses from various pulpits, pastors and other people in my life, but never read it myself in the Bible. It is a nice feeling to read such familiar words, and see them in a new light as God opens His word to me.

“The Lord make His face shine upon you” – have you ever known someone who’s face is alight with joy and pleasure? My son has such a face. He has smiling Irish eyes that light up whenever I come in a room. His smile absolutely radiates from his cherub cheeks and the joy shown in his features is heartwarming and delightful. That’s how God views us! He desires so much to be with us and rejoices in us.

Irish Eyes

Today, let’s focus on this aspect of God. The one who loves and cherishes us. Wants to fill our lives with His peace and joy. As I complete my tasks and work out my problems today, I want to keep God’s smiling Irish eyes at the forefront of my mind. Feeling His rich blessing and graciousness all through my day.
