About

My name is Tonya. I’m a stay-at-home-mom with two incredible children. I have green eyes and freckles. I love to bake. I love to read. I love taking photos of my kids. I’m very opinionated. I’m not a dog person. I hate feet.

My family is on a journey. An adventure to take every day as a new opportunity to learn something, add joy to someone’s life, be ourselves and live to our fullest capacity. I don’t share our journey lightly, or expect that you will agree with everything I say.

We homeschool, but I don’t think that homeschooling is necessarily what is best for every child/family. We changed course from public school because we thought it was best for us. We chose a classical method because it made sense to us. That doesn’t mean you’ll agree. And I’m completely ok with that. Part of the beauty and intrigue of the world is all the contrasting views. Without dissonance, we wouldn’t have the fully formed robust symphony of life.

With that in mind, I created Dissonant Symphony. It’s about the journey to complete a masterpiece of life. About struggles, triumphs, how life changes and how it stays the same. I’ll be talking about activities, field trips, projects, Classical Conversations, my walk with the Lord and all the beautiful things that make life a cacophony of sound. I hope you enjoy following our adventures and share with me your own experiences. Your voice adds a needed layer in the always transforming symphony that makes up this blog.

  1. Hi! I am a mom of 3 and new to CC this year. I printed off some history sentence copy work for cycle 3 that has mybakerlady.com printed on the bottom. If I’m not mistaken I got them off the CC connected site. I seem to have missed printing weeks 4-11 somehow. I went back on to CC connected and they have changed it. I cannot seem to locate the history sentences for copy work anymore. Would you be willing to share those weeks with me or repost them onto CC connected? Thank you so so much!!!!

    1. I’ll check CC connected for them and repost if they’ve disappeared. I know they are revamping the site and have had some trouble with the relaunch. 🙂 Welcome to CC! You’ll LOVE it!

    2. Hey Mandy. I’ve checked CC connected. If you go to the file sharing tab and sort by “uploaded by” — click on my user name “wenderbell” and all my files will come up, including the copywork for the weeks you are missing. Let me know if you still can’t find them!

  2. Hi Tonya! Our family loved your files on CC Connected last year! Any chance you’re making some for Cycle 1? If not, I will probably try to come up with something, but I didn’t want to try to reinvent the wheel. 🙂 Thanks!

    1. Are you talking about the copywork files or the music files? I haven’t started my planning for next year because I spoke at our local practicum about a week ago. I’ve been laser focused on that. Just getting around to what I’ll be doing for the upcoming school year.

    2. Hi Heather, I uploaded weeks 1-12 geo copy work and official blackline maps today. Username is wenderbell. Working on a color version as well, just haven’t found a map I really like yet. Ancient world is trickier than US last year. 🙂

Was there specific copy work you were looking for? Or just the whole shabang?

  3. Hi Tonya! I, too, loved the weekly review sheets you made last year and posted on CC Connected. They had all the subjects spread out over two pages, I believe. They were so great for my children. I would love to have those again! Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Genessa! I’m in the process of getting those completed. I anticipate by the end of the weekend they’ll but up on C3. So glad they worked well for you last year! Hooray for Cycle 1!

      1. Thank you! These will be great for my littles. I hate to be a pain, but any chance you will have the blank ones again? Those are better for my older children. Thanks again!

  4. Any chance you are going to be posting cycle 1 weeks 13-24 print copywork review sheets? The teachers here in New Mexico LOVE them!!!

  5. Hi! We used your Geography cycle1 sheets from last year and LOVED them. Any chance you are doing Cycle 2 for this year??

    1. Hi Crystal. Glad the Geography sheets were helpful for you. I hope to get all my copywork stuff made before September, but have just arrived home from vacation after speaking at several practicums over the summer — I may not have the time to do it this year.

    2. Tonya, I am so grateful for all the hard work you put into all these resources! Thank you! I am with Crystal, if you even have a chance to make a Cycle 2, let us know!

  6. I totally understand!!!! I appreciate you taking the time to create cycle 1 and for answering my question!!! Hope you have a great CC year!!

  7. Tonya, keep up the great work! I LOVE your listening maps! Much better with the timing on it for us novices. I know we don’t need it yet, but I noticed you didn’t post a unit on Mozart. Is that me, or is that one you weren’t able to do? Thanks so much!

    1. I did Mozart, it’s on C3, just not here on the blog. I have half a post written, I just love Mozart to pieces and can’t succinctly get my thoughts on him completed. 🙂
