Devotional – Flawless

Psalm 18:30

As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

Flawless. Perfect. These words describe the unattainable in life. For us at least, but not for God. The word “flawless” in the King James is “tried”, which is from the Hebrew word tsaraph, which refers to the process a smelter uses to refine metal, making it pure. Flawless. Ready to be used. How amazing is it that back in the day one of the primary uses for metals having gone thru this process was fashioning weaponry…like, a shield. The Bible is so cool.

I’m counting on God’s way being perfect. Because I’ve tried my own way in the past, and it doesn’t work out so well. Recently, I agreed to serve my church in an area that feels much to big for me. I prayed about it and felt that God was leading me to this path, but it’s more than a little scary. Thankfully, I know He is with me because He is already reminding me to trust Him. I know the Lord is guiding me, but having this reminder today that it’s a perfect path I’m on is really great news.

As I continue walking with Him, I need to focus daily on looking for God in life. Leaving room to watch what He’s up to, rather than filling every moment with things to be accomplished. I can’t wait to see how the Lord is going to use my strengths and (more likely) my weaknesses in the coming weeks to minister to others. I am so excited about the work He is doing in my life, my family and my church. It’s pretty stinkin’ awesome. I know, regardless of how I may falter, His way is still perfect. When I have doubts, I trust that His promises are still true. In spite of my imperfections, His word is, and will always be, flawless.
